To our surprise, we got a visit this week from JJ. He flew in for a job interview and decided to extend his time here a few extra days to spend time with the people he loves the most-US!…well besides his wife and kids. The thing about JJ is, he truly is one of the most important people in our lives. He started out as Greg’s best friend so many years ago and was a big contributor to me and Greg getting together. Most of my early memories of me and Greg include JJ. He has been a part of us in just about every step of our relationship and marriage. He is solely responsible for keeping Greg and I together in the beginning when we were learning how to work through fights and he stood beside us as our best man on our wedding day. We’ve lived together, travelled together, laughed and cried together. Our kids value him as “Uncle JJ”. There’s no doubt about it, we absolutely love this man! We don’t get to see him as often as we would like…we haven’t been able to convince Marle, his wife whom we love just as much that they need to live here. So during his visit we packed as much fun time together as we possibly could.
Tuesday afternoon Greg drove up to Denver to pick him up and then they came down and got me from work. From there we went over to the dance studio so the kids could all see their uncle JJ. That night we sat and talked and watched a movie. On Wednesday we kept the kids home from school and spent the day in Manitou at the penny arcades and water fountains. Then we went over to Mr. Biggs to let the kids bowl and play some more arcade games. We had lunch at Chick Fil A-JJ’s favorite Colorado fast food place, watched the girls at dance, and ate at Red Robin for dinner-JJ’s favorite Colorado restaurant. Later that night the three adults watched another movie, played some games and laughed like we were all 18 again. On Thursday, the kids all went to school and we went up to Boulder to let JJ pick out some things at Lush to take to his beautiful wife. After a all too short but great visit, we had to say goodbye and let him go home.
The dog really wanted JJ’s beer
